The goal of the cub program is to promote cooperation, friendship and the achievement of badges and stars. In particular, we try to keep the 'OUTING' in 'SCOUTING', and thus, we try to hold as many activities outdoors as possible. The uniqueness of our program is that it provides a stimulating environment, where children can enhance the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual aspects of their being.

The 6th Willowdale Cubs meet on Wednesday evenings, from 7:00 pm -8:30 pm., at Hollywood Public School. We generally start with a warm up game, followed by a uniform inspection in the cubs' sixes. The grand howl and flag raising follow the inspection, and a welcome is extended to all. We try to teach two new games, skills or activities in a given meeting. Although the cubs would prefer to play dodge ball, if they were given the opportunity; the leaders come prepared to teach new games and skills. At least 20 -30 minutes is devoted to cub badge/star work. As mentioned above, this fall we focussed on investing 17 new cubs, and consequently a great deal of time was committed to this preparation. We try to close with a quiet group activity , story or song. The evening ends with the Grand Howl and Flag lowering, and announcements regarding upcoming events.

The cub pack is a wonderful place to see friendships develop. Children often work in small groups together, which fosters cooperation and friendship. In addition, the experience of camping together enhances various scouting skills while fostering friendships. As the cub law states "the cub respects the Old Wolf, the cub respects himself/herself'. The leadership team feel this is an important part of the cub program -RESPECT! ! We teach the importance of respecting adults, and respecting all peers. To this end, we have had several discussions on manners, emotions, bullying and respect. We also believe in the importance of the cub motto to' Do Your Best' -and explain the value in each cub working to their full potential!! Most importantly, however. the 6th Willowdale Cub Pack is all about HAVING FUN! ! ! ! !
