In July of 1999 we attended the P.E.I. Jamboree. We got to meet lots of different people from all over the world even thought it was the Canadian Jamboree. We got to do a lot of exciting events like riffeling, kyacking, sporting events for P.E.I. culture and other fun evernts. The Jamboree was much more than any scout camp is because they are so many people with different ideas of what a good time is. Therefore, there were many difffernt activities like dances and information seminars about evertything. Our group also expreinced the culture of P.E.I by having lobster on our camp site and going to a local town to expreince P.E.I. We also went on to New Brunswick after the Jamboree to experience more of the East coast while we were there. Overall, we had an amazing time even though we had some difficulties. Almost every year we go to Halibuting Scout Reserve. alibuting is located on a lake so we get to do a lot of canoeing to get a round the camp. We get to canoe, kyak, sail and use fire arms at the camp. Our group ususally goes on an overnight hike where we carry all our stuff to a night camp site. At the camp we have lots of time to do our own events like plauing cards, going fishing, and other activities that we decide to do like swimming. Operation snow man is a cub event that Willowvalley puts on at Woodland. The cubs do their thing own activities for Saturday and Sunday is the event. At the event scouts compete with other groups doing fun activities like snowshoe race, pull the leader and saw a log. Theres free hot chocolate and cookies for everyone that participates. The events ususally last about three hours in the afternoon they present each group with awards for doing the best in each event. There are ususally around ten groups that participate in this event. The 6th Wollowdale aventures sometimes help run some of the events. The Challenge camp that occurs in srping is put on by adventures of 6th Willowdale. Scouts to apply their knowledge that they learned from scouting in this event. The events include using knot skills to build something, compass skills to get from event to event and fire lighting skills. At the end everybody gets a certificate and the winning team gets an award. The adventures also plan a camp fire and an additional fun event. Winter camping with scouts involves sleeping and doing all of the activities outside. Everyone ususally stays warm and has a tremendous amount of fun learning new skills and playing games outside. The scouts usually have dinner with the cubs where it is nice and warm. Having the cubs close by allows a haven in case a perosn gets to cold or needs to be inside. |
